DELMAG Drilling Rigs

since the mid-sixties DELMAG has been developing hydraulically powered drilling rigs. The first drilling rig model RH155, with a torque of 10mto, was built onto a crawler crane base in 1964. The advantages of this model were a hydraulic power pack, rope-crowd system, casing length of 7m and that the rotary head and a DELMAG casing oscillator could be operated at the same time.

A new more compact and powerful generation of drilling rigs was developed at the beginning of the 80's. The models RH 0610, 0812, 0912, 1413, 2513 and 2813 were built onto hydraulic excavator base machines. The modern kinematics made it possible to fold down the mast backwards, so that the preparation times on the jobsite were tremendously reduced. In addition to that the models that used a cylinder crowd system could be transported with Kelly bar and rotary head attached to the rig.

Since the mid-nineties newer, more modern rigs have been developed. They have been improved continuously to meet the requirements of todays drilling industry.

The advantage of the latest generation of drilling rigs is the compact yet stable design combined with powerful and durable components like high-torque rotary heads and heavy duty winches. Further features are the use of special made carriers with telescopic undercarriages, parallelogram kinematics, reversable winches for the crowd system, modern hydraulic and electric control systems and detachable counterweights to reduce transport weight. The position of the winches at the mast is perfect for drilling procedures and keeps the wear on the cables down to a minimum. Despite the modernization of DELMAG drilling rigs, they haven't lost anything from their robustness and reliability.
